March 18: Le Dernier Combat (Bresson)

Le Dernier Combat (The Last Combat)

Directed by Luc Besson, 1983
No speech, 92 min.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Luc Besson’s low-budget and black-and-white debut is the story of speechless people in search of friendship and survival. The nameless protagonist steals a fully charged automobile battery from bandits to fly away with his plane from the ruined world. He comes across a doctor, and the two -in their mute friendship- start battling against everything that jeopardizes the last remains of hope.
